How We Help You: Our Process
Insurance companies have lawyers on their side. You deserve one who fights harder.
Here’s exactly what happens when you work with CGH:
Step 1: Free Consultation
You call us (or fill out our form), and we listen. We review your accident details, ask clarifying questions, and explain your legal options—at no cost or obligation. This is your chance to ask anything. We answer honestly.
Step 2: Investigation & Evidence
We don’t take the insurance company’s word for anything. Our team investigates: we gather police reports, medical records, witness statements, accident scene photos, and expert opinions if needed. We build an airtight case.
Step 3: Demand & Negotiation
Once we’ve documented your full damages (medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, future care costs), we send a detailed demand letter to the insurance company. We negotiate aggressively for fair compensation. Many cases settle here.
Step 4: Settlement or Trial
If the insurance company won’t offer fair value, we take your case to trial. We prepare every case as if it’s going to court—because we’re willing to fight all the way if needed. That readiness often leads to better settlements.
Throughout this process, we keep you updated. Legal terms can sound confusing. Our job is to make sure you understand exactly what’s happening every step of the way.

Common Questions About Personal Injury Claims
How long do I have to file a personal injury lawsuit in Colorado?
In Colorado, you generally have 2 years from the date of injury to file a personal injury claim. For auto accidents, it’s 3 years. This is called the statute of limitations. Don’t wait. Evidence disappears, memories fade, and witnesses become harder to locate. If you miss this deadline, you lose your right to sue. Contact us immediately after an injury.
How does Colorado’s comparative negligence rule affect my case?
Colorado uses a “modified comparative negligence” rule. This means: if you’re found to be 50% or less at fault, you can still recover damages—but your award is reduced by your percentage of fault.
Example: If you’re in a car accident and found 20% at fault, but your damages are $100,000, you’d recover $80,000. If you’re found 51% or more at fault, you recover nothing. Insurance companies will try to blame you to reduce their payout. We fight to minimize your fault percentage and maximize your recovery.
What damages can I recover in a personal injury case?
You can recover economic damages (medical bills, lost wages, future medical care, property damage) and non-economic damages (pain and suffering, emotional distress, loss of quality of life). In wrongful death cases, families can recover death-related damages. Colorado has damage caps in certain cases (medical malpractice, wrongful death), but most personal injury cases have no cap.
What should I do immediately after an accident?
- Get to safety and call 911 if anyone is injured
- Get medical attention (even if you feel fine—some injuries appear later)
- Report the incident to police (auto accidents) or property owner (slip and fall)
- Take photos of the scene, injuries, and property damage
- Get witness information if possible
- Don’t admit fault or sign anything without legal advice
- Call us for a free consultation
Do I need a lawyer for a minor accident?
Even “minor” accidents can have hidden costs: medical bills that appear weeks later, insurance companies offering lowball settlements, or injuries that worsen over time. A lawyer levels the playing field. We handle the negotiation so you don’t have to deal with adjusters. For serious injuries, a lawyer is essential. For minor claims, it depends—call us for a free assessment.
How much does a personal injury lawyer cost?
We work on contingency. You pay nothing upfront. We take a percentage of your settlement or verdict (typically 25–40%, depending on the case stage). If we don’t win, you owe us nothing. This means our interests align with yours: we only make money when you do.
