High-Crash Corridors
I-270, Vasquez Blvd, and the Industrial Triangle
Interstate 270 carries over 100,000 vehicles daily through Commerce City, with 8 to 17 percent of that volume classified as freight trucks. CDOT has identified I-270 as a high-crash corridor and is actively studying it for safety improvements. Vasquez Boulevard (I-270 to 64th Ave) handles over 40,000 vehicles per day, and the complex 8-way intersection at 60th Ave is being redesigned after documented crash patterns. US-85, SH-2, and SH-265/Brighton Boulevard add additional freight volume from the Suncor Commerce City Refinery, Amazon, FedEx, UPS, McLane, and Old Dominion distribution centers. These roads are where Commerce City truck crashes concentrate.
